| Prayer and Meditation Garden |
|
anytime
A peaceful and serene setting awaits you in our new Meditation Garden. Enter and reflect on the beauty of God's gifts to us and feel His presence.
The garden is a continuous work in progress. Come see for yourself. As you enter the church parking lot, look to the rear and to the north. You will see that paths have been laid, olive trees planted, benches strategically placed, and a fence erected. Cape Honeysuckle have been planted at the fence and will soon begin their climb.
This garden has long been a dream of parishioner Todd Hailstone, and with the help of Joe & Karen Benvenuto, Diane Martinez and others from the church and many generous donations, his dream is being fulfilled.
This project is continuarlly going forward. If you have "caught our vision" and wish to become a part of this wonderful project, please make your checks payable to TUMC and mark it "Meditation Garden"

Thank you to all who bought scrip recently! There are many ways to support our All-Church fundraiser:
1. Exchange your check or cash for our scrip and shop using scrip. Buying groceries with scrip is a great way to support our church. Some people even use scrip as a way to budget what they spend.
2. Give our gift cards (scrip) to family and friends to help them celebrate special birthdays, anniversaries, new babies and other special occasions.
3. Use our gas cards; Shell or Arco to fill up your gas tank. (You can special order other gas cards too).
4. Use our scrip to purchase your prescriptions; we have scrip for CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens, Wal-Mart and all the major grocery stores.
5. Restaurants scrip earns huge rebates for TUMC ranging from 6%-12%.
6. Use our VISA cards that can be used at most stores and restaurants.
7. Register your Ralphs, Food 4 Less, and Vons Cards linking them to our church for automatic rebates.
8. Reload select gift cards at ShopWithScrip.com, such as Starbucks, CVS Pharmacy, Barnes & Noble and Lowe’s. (Get more information about this at the scrip table).
9. Purchase a Smart Card which earns the church $15 for each card sold. These are sold at the scrip table too.
The restaurant scrip we have are as follows: Applebee’s, Baja Fresh, California Pizza Kitchen, Chili’s, Chipotle, Islands, Lucille’s, Macaroni Grill, Marie Callender’s, Mimi’s Café, Olive Garden, Panera Bread, Red Lobster, Red Robin, Rosa’s Café, TGI Fridays, and Yard House. Mother Teresa was asked once by an interviewer: "When you pray, what do you say to God?" She said, "I don't talk, I listen." The interviewer then asked: "What does God say to you?" Mother Teresa replied, "He doesn't talk. He listens."
This quotation captures the essence of Centering Prayer (Christian Meditation or Contemplative Prayer). It is a mutual resting in awareness, pure relationship with God. It is an experiential method for enhancing your spirituality.
